How did you find this community?

In a Webinar, Mohammadreza Nikfar introduced Mr. Galtung. I began searching about him; it led me here.

Do you have any professional experience in the field of peace-research? peace-studies? peace-practice?

Not at all. I’m just interested.
[Im not sure if it’s relevant, but I’m part of a comic-book project which is about a superhero whose superpower is his words: Wordman. He talks the villains out of it. It IS intended as a peace practice, and it makes use of peace research.]

Are you at all familiar with concepts of Nonviolence and Conflict Transformation?

Not really. That’s why I’m registering. I feel bad things are going to happen in my country[Iran]. This is an act of desperation. We are getting closer and closer to a situation where people will come out to the street and our regime will shoot-to-kill us. And if we don’t do anything, it will be slow torture. Our country is falling apart. Our economy is failing. Our Environment has been damaged beyond repair. And there are 40 million 20-30 year-olds who feel tired, angry, marginalized. “What to do? What will happen?” are the frequently asked questions these days. Will Us/Israel/or an international coalition bomb the Islamic Republic’s nuclear sites? If not, what? More years of living under constant pressure? Being crushed by our own government and the world’s superpowers at the same time? And so on…
So I want to learn about non-violent protest and conflict transformation.

What is your main regional focus?

Iran, Middle East

Languages

Persian, English.
