Welcome to our community: How do you define PEACE?

Peace as both an inner state and process is the ability to say yes – or come to that – to whatever experience presents itself.
As a state in the outside world, it is characterized by an absence of violence on all levels. Which of course has numerous implications…

How did you find this community?

Via the site of Transcend Peace University.

Do you have any professional experience in the field of peace-research? peace-studies? peace-practice?

I’m a student of inner peace and peaceful relationships between indivuals and in small groups (so far). I’ve been studying and practicing different methods of psychotherapy (e.g. gestalt, body-oriented traumatherapy) and spiritual development to that “end”.
I work as a counsellor with individuals and couples, and am part of a group of people who endeavor to explore and teach the healing power of relationships.

Are you at all familiar with concepts of Nonviolence and Conflict Transformation?

A little. I’ve had the opportunity to listen to Johan and some other people give speeches in Germany on the occasion of his 80th birthday; and I’ve browsed some of his books. So I know there are steps to the conflict transformation, and that you don’t start out with the parties at one table, but talk to them separately, that you ask questions, inviting positive thinking directed towards the future and possible solutions. And that common projects are a good means to build peace and understanding. That about sums it up.

What are your primary conceptual interests and concerns

self-realization, self-compassion, mindfulness, personal integrity, trauma healing (specifically by Somatic Experiencing), gestalt therapy, healthy, satisfying and healing human relationships…, how to deal with emotions in a healthy way (for oneself and others), meditation, self-awareness
