| Welcome to our community: How do you define PEACE? | I was at first tempted to define peace using a basic opposite (eg. not war), but that really fails to take into account the diversity of conflict. Even if there isn’t outright physical violence, serious tensions and divisions hardly resemble ‚peace‘ either. Perhaps peace could be better defined as a state of mutual tolerance (ideally contentment) between individuals or groups of individuals, especially over contentious differences. Therefore, sustainable peace could only be achieved through dialogue and some degree of compromise. |

| Do you have any professional experience in the field of peace-research? peace-studies? peace-practice? | None at all, which is why I decided to take this course. |
| Are you at all familiar with concepts of Nonviolence and Conflict Transformation? | Not at all. Looking forward to getting familiar with them! |
| What are your primary conceptual interests and concerns | Perhaps the most relevant ones would be creative alternatives to war, cultural difference, and the power of language to change hearts and minds. |

| What is your main regional focus? | I've always been really interested by research in Southeast Asia, but I wouldn't call it my regional focus… just an interest! |

| CV | I was actually planning on studying this year to be a high school English and drama teacher, but somewhere between my undergraduate degree and teacher training I ended up in development studies. I’m really looking forward to finding out how this degree will complement my interests in education and youth work. |
