In substance, we will be dealing with Civilization defined as a basic script which is enacted in what sociologists call institutions such as sex, food, language etc&#8230; It is by studying institutions that we can understand the script of civilizations called cosmologies or world-views. This is indispensable for any cultural communication. In this Friday evening lecture, Galtung will outline the basic thesis of his latest book &#8220;A Theory of Civilizations-Overcoming Cultural Violence&#8221;.
